I have three children; Kenny was born in 1995 with a unilateral cleft lip and a bilateral complete cleft of the hard and soft palates. Kya, my daughter, was born in 2004 and was not born with a facial birth difference, but she was born with plenty of attitude! Elijah was born in 2006 with a bilateral complete cleft of the lip, hard and soft palates and is proving to be the toughest one of them all! Kenny and Eli have had several surgeries between them, but are doing wonderful and growing strong. Each child has their own unique challenges and as a mom of three very unique children, I hope my experiences, good and bad, might make the path of parenthood a little bit easier for other care givers; especially when it comes to caring for a child with a facial difference.
